instead of stepping back and saying

The real meaning of
“I’m not like the other girls” is
I think
“I’m not the  m e d i a ’s image of what girls should be”
Well, very, very few of us are
Pop culture wants to tell us
that we’re all  s h a l l o w , backstabbing
appearance-obsessed shopaholics
without a  t h o u g h t  in our heads
beyond cute boys and cuter handbags

and we need to  r e c o g n i z e  it
